The choice between a bath and a shower will always come down to a matter of time. When getting ready for work or school, a shower is really the only option.

Not many folks are morning bath people. However, at the end of a long day and without any looming deadlines, a bath can be the soothing soak you need to wash away the troubles of the day.

We can all agree that a warm bath is relaxing. That might be all you need but when you consider these added benefits of taking a bath, then you might find the time in your day for more baths. That would be a good thing!

Here’s what a bath can do for you:

Boost Your Heart Health

This is a tricky one. Bathing in extremely hot temperatures like you might find in a hot tub could put a strain on your heart, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. However, if you’re in decent health than a warm bath will slightly elevate your heartbeat. That’s a good thing for the heart to grow stronger.

You Breathe Easier

Warm water combined with your heart beating faster can improve the intake of oxygen into your lungs. To get the full effect, you’ll want to make sure you’re immersed past your chest with your head out. And try to close the door to the bathroom so the steam stays trapped in there. That can clear your sinuses.

Calms Your Nervous System

Floating in a tub can help reduce aches, pains, and inflammation. In turn, that can calm your nervous system because it won’t be working in overdrive to send your brain all those pain messages. When you’re calm, your stress and anxiety levels just melt away.

Strengthen Your Muscles and Joints

Water is resistance. Stretching in the water is a kind of low impact exercise on your joints, muscles, and bones. Obviously, for this to work, you need to have a big enough tub so that you can be fully submerged. Aquatic exercise has long been a prescribed form of therapy for folks to work out some muscle issues without the risk of falling.

Moisturizes Your Entire Body

We need to drink water throughout the day to stay hydrated. A decent bath can also provide that essential hydration from the outside in. Your entire body will benefit from that moisturization including your hair and eyes. If you add some oils or salts to the bath, then you’ll come out glowing!
